Under Schedule 5 to the Education Reform (N.I.) Order 1989, the Minister of Education appoints one-quarter of the members to the Board of Governors of Grant Maintained Integrated (GMI) schools.
Work is already underway to identify, select and appoint governors to a number of integrated schools including Hazelwood Integrated Primary School. The Department has been in contact with applicants, the Board of Governors and current DE governors at Hazelwood Integrated Primary School regarding appointments to the next term of office. Appointments will be made once all processes and clearances have been completed.
The Department is keen to increase the number of volunteers for governor positions at GMI schools and has recently launched a recruitment campaign (10 June 2022) to invite applications for GMI school governors.
