Answer
The Regional Review of Neurology Services is tasked with identifying the workforce and training needs required to underpin Neurology services going forward. In this context the Review has been considering workforce pressures in the round rather than for specific neurological conditions.
In terms of the Nursing workforce the Review Team has undertaken a Nursing Workforce Review to identify the overall Nursing requirement to support Neurology services. Regarding the Consultant workforce, the Review has focused on measures to support the Neurology Training Programme to grow the overall workforce in line with a Workforce Planning Report undertaken by the Public Health Agency.
It is intended that the Review, including final recommendations on workforce requirements, will be completed later in the spring.
