To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for an update on the blue-green algae at Ligoniel Dam, North Belfast.

My officials met with the Chief Executive of the Ligoniel Improvement Association on the 7 August 2024. The Association has responsibility for management of the site. During the meeting officials were able to provide information around water testing, as well as details of DAERA funding channels that could be used to enhance the water environment at the site. The bloom that occurred earlier in the summer was no longer evident at the time of the visit, however I wish to thank the managers of the site for their swift action in warning users at the time once alerted.
