Answer

My department continues to engage with the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), in respect of the Eastern Transport Plan (ETP) 2035 and its impact on the Clifton Gateway scheme. My officials and their DfI counterparts are exploring potential opportunities for the joint delivery of public realm schemes and infrastructure projects in the future. This approach includes the possibility of developing the Clifton Gateway alongside Belfast Rapid Transit Phase 2.

At present, there is no confirmed timescale for delivery of the public realm scheme, as it remains subject to the conclusion of the ongoing discussions with DfI.

Ulster University is not currently involved in discussions between DfC and DfI. However, given its location the university will be engaged as a key stakeholder when discussions with DfI are concluded and a way forward has been established.
