Answer
When a person in receipt of the daily living component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) has been resident in a care home for more than 28 days, and their stay in the care home is funded by a Health & Social Care Trust, a decision maker in the Department will make a decision to suspend payability of the daily living component of PIP. Although payment is suspended until they leave the care home, their underlying entitlement to the daily living component is retained and payment reinstated following their discharge.
