Answer

All HSC Trusts provide care for endometriosis, with women referred under the care of a consultant gynaecologist. Gynaecology services are delivered through multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, responsive, and appropriate care throughout the patient journey. Each team member—whether a consultant, nurse, or other professional—functions as a specialist within their discipline. Plans and investment for endometriosis services will commence in 2026. Business Cases relating to both the Regional Centres and local service models are expected to be submitted to the Department by March 2026 for consideration.

More complex endometriosis care will be provided in the Belfast and Western Trusts, supported by multidisciplinary teams of surgeons, including colorectal and urological consultants.

As part of these plans Belfast Trust will be applying for accreditation as a specialist centre and Western Trust are seeking reaccreditation, with Business Cases expected late March 26.
