Answer

My department may protect a range of historic assets, including buildings and structures of special architectural or historic interest through listing under Section 80 (1) of the Planning Act (NI) 2011, and archaeological sites and monuments through scheduling under Article 3 of the Historic Monuments and Archaeological Objects (NI) Order 1995. A variety of the types of assets which have been designated can be found on www.communities-ni.gov.uk/services/historic-environment-map-viewer

Listed building examples can include houses, churches, industrial buildings, schools, bridges, telephone kiosks and other structures of special architectural or historic interest.

Scheduled Monument examples can include ancient tombs, earthworks, ruined churches and castles, shipwrecks and some features of industrial and defence heritage interest.
