Answer

Greenhill is open and Redwood is a proposed new short breaks facility which has not yet opened. The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust currently delivers residential Short Breaks from Greenhill. It is the Trusts intention to transfer this service from Greenhill to the Redwood site on the Belmont Road in Belfast. A definitive time frame for this proposed move is not available at this point in time as an assessment is ongoing about the work that will be required to upgrade Redwood to current Fire regulation standards. Barnardos, who own Redwood, have commissioned a fire risk survey which will inform the next steps. Trust Estates department and the RQIA are actively involved in the discussions to create the circumstances to enable Redwood to open.
