Answer
Significant progress is being made in delivering the Belfast Cycling Network Delivery Plan, with the majority of short-term schemes continuing to move forward. Preliminary proposals for Cavehill Road, Limestone Road and York Street are currently being developed, and my Department intends to carry out initial public engagement on these emerging proposals in the coming weeks. Elected representatives and key stakeholders will be notified as soon as arrangements for the public engagement event are finalised.
On Corporation Street, proposals for active travel improvements linking York Street Train Station and Sailortown to the Cathedral Quarter and Ulster University have progressed to detailed design stage following preliminary public engagement last year. Subject to the successful progression of design in the coming months, the scheme should move forward to the commencement of statutory consultation for the Traffic Regulation Orders required to legislate the proposed cycling improvements later in the 2026/27 financial year.
