Answer
Road safety is a high priority for my Department, and we are committed to working proactively to make our roads safer and to address the needs of all road users. We are acutely aware that children and young people are amongst the most vulnerable groups using our roads, particularly around schools.
I can confirm that a full site survey and assessment has now been completed at the roundabout on Prince Charles Way close to Ashgrove Primary School and a score for the site has been calculated.
The scoring for this site has indicated that it would be considered to be high priority within the Antrim and Newtownabbey council area.
The site will remain on the Department’s prioritised list for inclusion in a future works programme.
